Use this guide if you want to be notified when one of your chargers goes offline or throws a fault, instead of finding out days later from a driver complaint.
What VoltGuard is
VoltGuard is a per-account notification system in the Hub. It watches for specific OCPP fault and status events on your chargers and alerts you by email and/or in-app when one happens, including a charger going offline.
VoltGuard sends email and in-app notifications only
There is no SMS or push notification. If you want alerts away from the Hub, turn on Email Notification and add the address you check regularly.
How to turn it on
- Log in to the Hub at hub.wevolt.com.au with your CPO account.
- If the menu isn't already showing, click the ☰ icon in the top left to open it, then select VoltGuard.
- Turn on Enable VoltGuard.
- Under Notification Types, turn on Email Notification (In-App Notification only shows alerts while you're logged into the Hub).
- Under Additional Notification Emails, add up to 2 extra addresses if you want more than one person to be alerted.
- Under Trigger Events, turn on the specific events you want to be notified about. Nothing is selected by default, VoltGuard being enabled does not mean you'll receive alerts until you turn on individual events below.
✓ Charger going offline? Turn on "Last Seen Timeout"
This is the event that covers a charger dropping off the network, it fires when the Charge Point hasn't communicated for longer than its heartbeat interval. It's the closest match to "tell me when a charger stops responding."
Trigger events
Each event can be turned on or off individually.
| Event | What it means |
|---|---|
| Last Seen Timeout | Charge Point has not sent any communications for longer than its heartbeat interval, the charger has effectively gone offline. |
| Connector Lock Failure | Failure to lock or unlock the connector. |
| EV Communication Error | Communication failure with the vehicle. Not always a real fault, the charge point may just move to a suspended state while waiting on the vehicle. |
| Ground Failure | Ground fault circuit interrupter has been activated. |
| High Temperature | Temperature inside the charge point is too high. |
| Internal Error | Error in an internal hardware or software component. |
| Local List Conflict | Authorisation information from the Central System conflicts with the charger's local authorisation list. |
| Other Error | Any other fault type not covered above. |
| Over Current Failure | Over current protection device has tripped. |
| Over Voltage | Voltage has risen above an acceptable level. |
| Power Meter Failure | Failure to read the power meter. |
| Power Switch Failure | Failure to control the power switch. |
| Reader Failure | Failure with the card/idTag reader. |
| Reset Failure | Unable to perform a reset. |
| Under Voltage | Voltage has dropped below an acceptable level. |
| Weak Signal | Wireless communication device reports a weak signal. |
Do I need to turn on every event?
No. Turning on Last Seen Timeout alone covers the most common complaint, a charger going quiet without anyone noticing. Add the fault-specific events (Ground Failure, High Temperature, Internal Error, and so on) if you want broader coverage, but a long list of low-signal alerts can be harder to act on than a short one.
