Adding a Charger in Wevolt Hub

This guide provides a straightforward process for creating and configuring a charging station using the Wevolt Hub. It covers key steps, such as enabling load management and connecting the charger to the platform, ensuring optimal performance. By following this guide, users can quickly establish a fully operational charging station, enhancing their EV infrastructure with ease.

1. Login to Wevolt Hub

2. Navigate to "Charger Management" from sidebar menu

3. Click the "Create Station" button

4. Select the location if you have it. Otherwise, create a new location by clicking "Create New Location" button. And Click "Save and continue" to proceed

5. Next, a Charger ID will be automatically generated. This ID is the unique identifier for your charger and will also be printed on the device. You can edit to rename this ID. We recommend keeping it short and easy to recognize (e.g., WB234, RT6578), as users will search for and identify the charger in the Wevolt App using this ID.

Info
If you are using a Load Management System to balance power across chargers, select the “Enable Load Management” option. If not, simply leave it unchecked.

Click Save and Continue to proceed

6. Configure the OCPP URL in your charger so it can connect back to the platform

To bring your charger online in Wevolt Hub, you must enter the OCPP WebSocket URL shown in Wevolt Hub into your charger’s backend/OCPP settings.

6a. Use the exact OCPP WebSocket URL displayed in Wevolt Hub under your charger.

This URL is automatically generated for your tenant and charger ID.

AlertImportant: Copy and paste the full URL exactly as shown. Do not modify, shorten, or rename the URL.

6b. Secure vs Unsecure WebSocket – Which One Should I Select?

When entering the OCPP URL into your charger, you may see two options:
  1. Secure WebSocket (wss://)

    1. Use this option if your charger supports SSL/TLS.
    2. This is the recommended setting for most setups and is required for higher OCPP security profiles.
  2. Unsecure WebSocket (ws://)
    1. Use this option only if your charger does not support wss:// or if the secure URL fails to connect.
    2. Some charger models—particularly older ones or those with limited firmware—only accept ws://.
Info
Most chargers support wss://.
If the charger rejects the secure URL, switch to ws:// and retry.

6c. Where Do I Enter the OCPP URL on My Charger?

Every charger brand labels this field differently.

Common names include:

  • Server URL

  • Backend URL

  • OCPP Central System

  • OCPP WebSocket

  • Central System Address

  • OCPP Server Location

Alert
Please refer to the charger’s installation manual to find the correct field for your hardware. Charger interfaces and firmware differ between manufacturers.

7. Once the connection is established, you will see it as Online

8. Click "Run" to run connection test

9. Once the test is successful, proceed by clicking "Save and make charging station available"

10. Attach a charger with a licance by clicking "Assign" button and then click "Save and Continue" button to proceed

11. Select Tariff profile for the charger and click "Save and continue" button.

12. And that’s it — your charger is now created, connected, and ready to use in Wevolt Hub.
